About Middendorf Funeral Home

Middendorf Funeral Home The Only Funeral Home Owned and Operated by the Middendorf Family

For six generations, the Middendorf family has been involved in caring for the families of Northern Kentucky, after the passing of a loved one. "Ours is a tradition of service with care and

compassion," shared Dave Middendorf, the owner. We take that tradition to heart, and this attention to our legacy has extended to the architectural design of our new facility. It took hours of thought and conversation, to arrive at a structure which gives families a warm, inviting setting with ample space for tasteful, non-intrusive services of any size.

The Middendorf heritage began with Wilhelm, who started the business as a livery service over 146 years ago. As was the common practice, he would travel to the homes of families in the area, where he would tend to their needs. They would have the wake at the home, then he would escort the casket to the church for the funeral service, and then shepherd the family to the cemetery for interment. Wilhelm died early, and his wife and son, John N. Middendorf, picked up the pieces and carried on without him.

Charlie and his brother John W., John N.'s sons, acted on the legacy of service left to them by his father and grandfather. They worked together for some years, and then Charlie continued on, with his wife Mary.

Charlie knew the family firm was in good hands when his son, James "Jim" Middendorf assumed the day-to-day responsibilities of the business. And today, Middendorf Funeral Home is in the care of David "Dave" Middendorf, his son.

I'm proud of our facility, and I'm proud of the legacy left to me by the five generations of Middendorf funeral service professionals I have as my foundation. Families who come to us know that they will be warmly welcomed by someone who truly knows, and cares about, what they are experiencing.
