William "Bill" David Engel, passed away on July 18, 2024 in his home city of Edgewood Kentucky. Bill was born March 29, 1951 in Springdale, Ohio to John Engel and Marie (Eversole) Engel. Bill's life was full of family, love, friendships, and service to his community.
Bill retired after 25 years of service with the Covington Fire Department, where he served as Assistant Chief. During his retirement he continued to work for the Point Pleasant Fire Department. He was also a State Fire Instructor, leading the next generation of first responders. He served as Registrar for the Greater Cincinnati Regional Arson & Fire Investigators Seminar. His passion was service to his community. He volunteered at St. Henry Grade School, St. Henry District High School, as well as being involved in numerous volunteer opportunities at St. Barbara Church.
After retirement his family became his main joy in life, spending many hours with his grandchildren. His family will remember his kind heart and sense of humor, and he will be remembered fondly by all those who had the opportunity to interact with him.
A loving and devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 49 years Carol (Neumeister) Engel, daughter Bernadette (Nick) Warning and son John (Erin) Engel. He was a loving grandfather to Tina, David, Anna, Hope, Hadley, and Holden.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 27 from 8-10AM at St. Barbara Church with a funeral mass to follow at 10 AM. Interment will immediately follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell. Reception and celebration of life will be held in the Baumann Hall at St. Barbara Church.
