William L. "Bill" Ahlers, III

March 19, 1957 — July 31, 2025

Crescent Springs

William J. “Bill” Ahlers, III also fondly known as “Chewy” passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the age of 68 years old. Bill was a gentle giant and beloved brother, uncle, and great uncle.

Bill graduated from Beechwood High School in 1975 where he was a standout athlete in multiple sports including football, baseball, golf, tennis and basketball. He earned a scholarship to play football at Eastern Kentucky University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. After college he joined his father in the family tile business until he retired.

Bill’s first love was golfing with his friends. He approached the game with the same competitive spirit that made him a successful football player. With a solid 8 handicap, he played in many tournaments including the Cincinnati Met. Most of his vacations also centered around the game he loved so much, visiting courses all over the U.S., most notably Myrtle Beach, Kiawah Island, Orlando, Mobile, Birmingham and Gulf Shores.

After golf or work Bill could be found sitting in Saddle Club with a cold Budweiser enjoying the company of his friends and maybe playing a few hands of poker or betting on ponies or football games.

While Bill was plagued with many illnesses in his later years, he never complained when his golfing days were over. His focus became spending time with Bullet, his rescue dog from the SPCA and loyal companion. Bill also loved and was always grateful for the many family members and friends that would stop by to spend some time with him.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William & Shirley Ahlers and siblings, Robert (Ann) Ahlers & Kathy (Casey) Nutini, he is survived by his sisters, Sue (Mike) Finke, Dianne Fischer, and brothers Dave (Stephanie) Ahlers & Steve (Jami) Ahlers. He is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews and 25 great nieces and nephews.
