Thomas Joseph “Tom” Blom passed into the arms of Jesus Tuesday, April 14. He was the son of John William Blom and Elizabeth “Betty” Dooley Blom. Tom was born in Covington on Leap Year Day, February 29, 1948. He grew up in Latonia and attended Holy Cross Grade School and High School, then worked at Sky Chef, Hudepohl Brewing Company, Duro Bag Manufacturing, and Sonoco/Corr Flex Display Production. Tom attended St. Henry Church in Erlanger, the Vineyard Christian Church in Florence, and most recently the Bridge Church in Alexandria.
Tom was a devoted husband to Beth Wolff Blom for more than 48 years. He was the very proud father of Patrick (Kristina) Blom, Philip Blom, and Christopher Blom, and the loving Poppa of granddaughters Lily, Emma, and Casey, and grandsons Aiden, Felix, and Lachlan. Tom was the brother of Carol (Al) Hegener, Dennis (Susan) Blom and James (Ellen) Blom, and brother-in-law of Therese and Dave Schroer and Virginia Wolff. He was “Uncle Tom” to sixteen nephews and nieces. He had more than two dozen cousins who lived in Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina, California, Arizona, and Nevada.
Tom was an accomplished artist, creating dozens of pictures with acrylic paint and pastels. He loved all things trains, building model train layouts, watching trains, riding trains, and reading books about trains. He enjoyed friendships with his Crossroads Church Men’s group, the Romeos’ weekly Lunch, Bridge Church Life Groups, and Breakfast with Guys Who Pray.
Above everything and everyone, Tom loved Jesus and faithfully served in many ministries. He had read through the Bible, Genesis to Revelation, three times. He prayed every day for family and friends.
Tom will be honored Monday, April 20th at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike in Fort Wright, Kentucky. Visitation from 4:00 until 7:00 will be followed by a Service at 7:00.
