Stephen H. Smith

Stephen Smith, 76, of Edgewood, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 in the comfort of his home. Steve was born in Bellevue, Kentucky on February 13, 1950; the son of the late John and Katherine (Geis) Smith. Steve graduated from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati in 1968, and received his degree in Sociology from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1972.

Steve married Sarah (Betz) “Sallie” Smith on May 5, 1973. Together, they had two children, Christian Smith and Stephanie Terhar. He retired as an insurance salesman after many years of loving and capabl e service to clients and friends. He was a member of St. Xavier Church in Cincinnati, Ohio and volunteered his time for many years as a catechist to adults converting to or joining the Catholic faith. Steve was a man of deep faith and spirituality. Music, friends, and a good cocktail hour are some of the many things that he enjoyed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sarah “Sallie” Smith; son Christian Smith; daughter Stephanie Terhar; and granddaughters, Emma Terhar and Grace Terhar.

Visitation will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church, 611 Sycamore Street, Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 9:30 am, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Burial will be held at Mother of God Cemetery, 3125 Madison Avenue, Latonia, Kentucky.
