Sally Ann DeJaco

September 1, 1942 — December 20, 2020

Sally was a loving wife, gentle mother and beloved grandmother; a gifted scholar and special teacher; a devout Catholic; and a good friend. Sally was born on September 10, 1942 in Covington, KY.  She is the daughter of Herbert Joseph BEITING and Rosemary MIDDENDORF Beiting.  Sally has an older sister Susan Elizabeth Beiting and a younger brother Dr. Daniel Joseph Beiting. Blessed Sacrament has always been her parish.  She was baptized there and attended the parish elementary school; Msgr. Leo Streck was her pastor and the Sisters of St. Benedict were her teachers.  She then attended Villa Madonna Academy in Villa Hills, KY and graduated from there in 1960. In 1964 Sally received her degree in Education (B.A.) from Villa Madonna College (now Thomas More University).  Initially she taught in Campbell County School System, but later would return to her teaching career as a substitute and part time teacher at Blessed Sacrament School.  After a few more years of study Sally received her graduate degree in Education (M.Ed.) in 1981 from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH.  She then became the special education teacher at Blessed Sacrament School until she retired in 1993.  Norbert Francis DEJACO Jr. and Sally Ann BEITING were married in 1964 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Alexandria, KY.  They had the following children: Jennifer Ann (Jenny) DEJACO, born in 1965, in Fort Thomas, KY; she married John Aldo CASTRUCCI, in 2000 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church.  John Aldo CASTRUCCI (son of Aldo CASTRUCCI and Jane PLEASANT) was born in 1963 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Jennifer Ann (Jenny) DEJACO Castrucci and John Aldo CASTRUCCI had the following children: Christopher John CASTRUCCI was born in 2002; he is currently a senior at Madeira High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ryan Jonathan CASTRUCCI was born in 2004; he will always hold a special place in his grandmother’s heart. Thomas Anthony (Tom) DEJACO, born in 1969, Cincinnati, Ohio; he married Elizabeth Jane (Betsy) HUGHES, in 1997 in Georgetown, KY.  They have the following child: Ashley Nicole DEJACO was born in 1998 in Mobile, Alabama.  She was later baptized at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  Ashley is currently enrolled in graduate studies at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sally died on December 20, 2020 after having trod the path of dementia for the past four years.  The hopelessness of watching someone you love is a trial, but the frustration of making that journey yourself and the loneliness she endured is even more difficult to describe.  She was fortified with the last sacraments.  Her struggle is now over. Middendorf Funeral Home in Ft. Wright are handling the arrangements. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church. Memorials are suggested to: Blessed Sacrament School 2407 Dixie Highway, Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017 or St. Vincent de paul Society 7110 Turfway Rd., Florence, KY 41042.
