Raymond Ralph Anneken

May 28, 1934 — January 31, 2022

Raymond was called home to be with the Lord on 1/31/2022  at the age of   87.  Ray is now reunited with his loving wife Dorothy.  Ray was born to Joseph and Rose Anneken and was the "baby" of fifteen children.  Ray was preceeded in death by his wife and parents, brothers Norbert, Alvin, Joseph and Edgar and his sisters Loraine, Helen, Joan, Jeanette, Ester, Rosella, Audrey and Delores.  Raymond is survived by his son Steven and daughter Darlene, sister Aurelia, brother Walter and many nieces and nephews.

Ray grew up in Covington KY.  Ray attended Covington Catholic High School and graduated from the Ohio Mechanics Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering.  Ray worked most of his career as a metallographer at General Electric and retired with over fourty years of service to the company.  Ray was one of the founding fathers of the Dutchmen Rod and Gun Club.  He remained an active member of the club throughout his life.  In his younger years he was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He greatly enjoyed trap shooting.  In his later years when he could no longer participate in the sport he helped out by keeping score and enjoying the comaraderie of his friends.

Ray stayed active later in life by going to Five Seasons every morning and exercising.  He developed many friendships there.  Ray was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in June of 2021 and was presented with the certificate at the club.  He was very touched by this honor.

Ray was a loving and kind man who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Always willing to help out a friend; he was just a stand up guy.  Ray had a zeal for life.  He had numerous health issues but he always pushed on and worked hard to gain back his strength and health.  Ray fought the good fight until the end.

Ray was a wonderful father and husband.  Ray coached many teams of his son while growing up and always made time for his children.  After his children were grown he was just a phone call away to help out with anything they needed at a moments notice, including just a word of encouragement.  It seemed like he knew how to fix anything, and if he didn't he knew someone who could.  It was a wonderful feeling knowing you had such an amazing safety net.

Ray was married to Dorothy for 64 years until her death in 2019. Ray lovingly took care of Dorothy, who in her later years suffered from dementia.  Now they are back together, forever.  Steve and Darlene feel very blessed to have had such wonderful parents and will miss them terribly.  There is an empty hole in their hearts that will never be filled.  Until we joyously meet again.......
