It is with sadness that we announce the death of Monica Lynn Condit (Comiskey) on April 29th, 2026 at the age of 57 after a prolonged battle with colon cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, William Comiskey, and her older sister Carol Comiskey, father-in-law James Condit Sr., mother-in-law Rose Condit, and brother-in-law James Condit Jr.
Monica is survived by her husband David Condit, and her 10 children: Gregory Condit (Catherine), Annmarie Condit, Michael Condit (Anne), Mary LaJoye (David), Patrick Condit, Joseph Condit, Catherine Condit, Bridget Condit, Marie Therese Condit, and Thomas Condit. She leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Clara, Alanna, Rosalie, Theodore, Gianna, Ruth, and a 7th on the way. She is also survived by her immediate family members: mother, Annie Comiskey, and 5 of her sisters: Evelyn (Pat) Briggs, Gail (Bryan) Binagia, Julie Comiskey, Mary Comiskey, and Paula Comiskey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
As a wife and a mother, Monica poured herself out for her children with a tirelessness that few could match. Raising ten children was her life's work, and she approached that endeavor with extraordinary energy and intention. She was the heart of a busy home: cooking, cleaning, teaching and directing. She motivated her children into music, sports, spelling bees and science fairs, and anything else that might open doors for their potential. She poured the same love and devotion she gave her own children into each of her grandchildren. She had a special gift for connecting with children, a grace that made it seem only fitting that so many were entrusted to her care.
As high as her earthly standards were, her spiritual standards were higher. She was relentlessly focused on her ultimate purpose: to reunite with her family in Heaven. Monica was devoted to her Catholic faith. She filled her home with prayer: the family rosary each evening, frequent Mass, novenas, catechism, and a particular devotion to the Blessed Mother. She would often repeat the saying that "a family that prays together stays together", and she lived by those words. Three of her children have pursued religious vocations. Her children, along with her 35 years of loving marriage to David, are a testament to the faithful environment she cultivated in her home.
Diagnosed with stage four cancer in 2020, Monica underwent many painful treatments with extraordinary courage. In the face of such suffering she maintained a wonderful balance of determination to battle the cancer, along with consistent resignation to the will of God. Because of this, she not only remained cheerful and at peace, but even became a source of inspiration for others through her personal letters and her example. Monica’s battle with cancer was a profoundly spiritual one, for herself and those around her; no suffering passed by without being offered up for some family member or others who needed prayers. She always expressed gratitude for the support provided by her family and friends.
Monica was never content with the ordinary. Her mind was always creating, always looking for ways to make life richer for her children and grandchildren. She declined personal pursuits outside the home, choosing instead to give her family decades of her undivided attention and love. Her children were the fortunate recipients of a mother whose love never rested. May she rest in peace.
