Marcia Strategier

September 24, 1924 — March 18, 2022

Covington has lost one of its grand ladies.  Marcia Strategier, age 97, of Ft. Wright, KY passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2022.  Born in an upstairs apartment in the historic building currently housing the Dee Felice Cafe on the corner of Main and W 6th St., Marcia spent her youth living in what is now called Mainstrasse, when it really was a German Village.  She is a graduate of Notre Dame Academy and was a lifelong, devoted member of Mother of God Church; as were a few generations before her.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Strategier; parents, Clem and Adelaide Witte, sister, Micki Moser and grandson, Bo Strategier.  Marica is survived by her sons, David Strategier, Kenneth Strategier and Giles Strategier (Gina); grandchildren, Lindsey, Beth, Sara, Kyle and Lyle; and 9 great-grandchildren.  Marcia was devoted to her family.  She had an inviting smile and was genuinely interested in everyone she met. She enjoyed hosting card parties, synchronized swimming, singing, gardening, interior decorating (whether you wanted it or not), dining in Mainstrasse, and anything family.  She is well loved and will be fiercely missed.  During WWII, prior to her marriage, Marcia was a chemist with the US Corp of Engineers, then with Hilton Davis Chemical Company.  In service to Mother of God Church she lectured, worked on the bereavement committee and the Altar Society and sang in the choir.  Memorial donations made in her name are suggested to Mother of God Church 119 W 6th St, Covington, KY 41011.  Entombment will be held at a later date for the convenience of the family at St. Mary Cemetery.
