Leslie W. Thomes

Leslie W. Thomes, 76, of Ft. Thomas, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020. He was born in Cincinnati, OH on June 1st to the late Joseph and Virginia (nee Steffen) Thomes. Les was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, especially of the Big Red Machine. From 1962 to 1964 he was in the Navy and was a crew member aboard a submarine, The Odax USS 484. Les was also a creative man who always enjoyed tinkering and inventing. He also wrote several short stories about his life.

Les is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Karen Moll and brother Joe Tomes, sister-in-law Debbie Tomes and brothers-in-law, John Braun and Randy Gorres.

Les is survived by his children, Christopher Thomes, Gina (Brian) Paulick, Catherine (Jeff Fischer) Gausvik, Sherry (Deron) Thompson, Michele Thomes, Amy (Mike) Blechman, and Matthew Thomes; 19 grandchildren: Tiffanie Dimmitt, Austin, Trent and Genevieve Paulick, Christian (Cody), Brendan and Tyler Gausvik, Brittany McDaniel, Henry Thompson, Allyson Schaefer, Katie Walz, Zac, Jordan, Jacob and Eli Blechman, John Campbell, Leslie, Madison and Emma Thomes; and 3 great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Jase and Rosalie; and his former wife and friend Barbara (Williams) Thomes.

He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Jo (the late John) Braun, Pat (Bob) Frey, Gregory (Kathy) Thomes, Suzanne (Mike) English, Lisa (Gary) McEdwards, Marilyn (the late Randy) Gorres, and David (Cindy) Thomes.

The family would like to thank Dr. Brian A. Mannion and his entire staff, especially Mary Hamm, for all their support over the past years. A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to “The Giving Voice Foundation” as they work to improve the healthcare of local older adults through advocacy, fundraising, & storytelling.
