Karen H. Blight

Karen H. Blight, a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and dedicated teacher, passed away peacefully on April 6th, 2024, at the age of 65. She was born on December 5th, 1958, in Mobile, AL, to the late Thomas and Mary Hassell.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Danny P. Blight, her devoted children Joshua (Katie) Blight and Lauren (William) Littlejohn, and her adored grandchildren: Abbie Kate, Liam, Wesley, and Boaz. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Kathleen (Daniel) Strizak.

A graduate of the University of South Alabama, Karen's passion for education shone brightly during her tenure as a beloved teacher at Griggs Elementary School, Covenant Christian School, and Cottage Hill Christian Academy (Mobile, AL). Notably, she was the driving force behind the initiation of the majorettes' program at Cottage Hill Christian Academy.

In addition, Karen was a dedicated mother who wholeheartedly supported her children's endeavors, attending every game, performance, and function with unwavering enthusiasm. Her love extended to her role as a grandmother, where she delighted in spoiling her grandchildren while nurturing their educational learning.

Karen's faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life, and she worshiped and found community as a member of Cottage Hill Road Baptist Church (Mobile, AL) and Thomasville Road Baptist Church (Tallahassee, FL).

The family will hold a celebration of life gathering on April 11th, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm at Middendorf Funeral Home, located at 3312 Madison Pike, Ft Wright, KY 41017. To support Karen’s memory, flowers or donations to ALS Association (see contact below) will be appreciated.

Karen will be remembered for her unwavering faith, boundless love, and lasting impact on the lives of those she touched. Her presence will be deeply missed until her loved ones meet her again in Heaven one day.
