Joseph Michael Campoamor, affectionately known as Mike or Campy, was born in April 1955 in Dayton, Kentucky, and passed away on July 1, 2024, at the age of 69 at his home in California, Kentucky.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Christy Campoamor, who stood by his side through life's ups and downs; his daughter, Traci (John) Lutes, his grandchildren Chance and Seth; his great grandchild, Piper; and siblings Jeff, Paul and Rick; all of whom brought him immense joy. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Michael, Jr.
Mike served the city of Dayton for over 20 years, retiring as Assistant Fire Chief leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside him. He was more than a colleague—he was a life-long friend to his fellow fighters and all those who knew from his time living in Dayton and California. Mike was an avid golfer who found joy and relaxation on the greens and a dedicated fan of the Cincinnati Reds.
His family invites all who knew him to join in remembering and celebrating a life well-lived at Middendorf funeral home on Saturday, July 6 from 10 am to noon, followed by a service to honor Mike’s memory and the profound impact he had on many.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mike's name to the Dayton/Bellevue Fire Department or a charity of your choice. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him.
