John lived life on his own terms, with a wonderful sense of humor, a humble heart, and a genuine care for the people in his life. He had a gift for making connections, building lasting friendships, and helping others in ways that often meant more than he realized.
Throughout his life, John worked in the insurance industry and real estate, building relationships that often grew into lifelong friendships. He had friends from every chapter of his life, including high school, his years in business, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), real estate, and his neighborhood. No matter how people came into his life, John had a way of making those relationships meaningful. He was a faithful friend who showed up when people needed him, offering help, support, and friendship without seeking recognition.
One of John's greatest accomplishments was celebrating 20 years of sobriety. This milestone represented years of commitment and perseverance, and his journey touched the lives of others who were walking a similar path. John understood the importance of being there for people, and he was known to walk alongside friends through difficult times, offering encouragement and support when it mattered most.
John was also an artist, expressing his creativity in his own way. He loved to laugh and had a memorable sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. He enjoyed living in the moment and taking each day as it came.
Family was important to John. He cared about his nieces and nephews, always asking about their lives, their work, and their accomplishments. Even during his own difficult battles, he wanted to know how the people he loved were doing. His family is grateful for the time they shared with him, the laughter and stories they will carry with them, and the love that remained strong throughout his life.
John faced his battle with cancer with strength and quiet determination. During his final days, friends from all parts of his life came to visit, share stories, pray with him, and remind him of the difference he had made. He was able to hear firsthand how much he was loved and how deeply he had touched the lives of others. Those moments were a beautiful reflection of the life he had lived and the friendships he had nurtured.
John is survived by his loving mom, Jeanine Kalker (nee Broering), his sisters Lisa Raisbeck (Tom), Susan Noyes (James), seven nieces and nephews: Ben Raisbeck, Nick Raisbeck, Jackson Raisbeck, Evan Noyes, Julianne Noyes, Ryan Noyes, Ella Noyes, and his dog Reuben who will be taken care of by his family. He was preceded in death by his dad, John Kalker and his sister, Julianne Kalker
