Janice Rose Bosko (Herold), 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister
and friend, began her eternal life with her Lord and Savior on June 6, 2026. She passed
peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and leaving a legacy of faith, love and
laughter. Janice was the beloved and devoted wife of William J. Bosko, together they
celebrated 61 years of marriage on May 15, 2026. Their storybook marriage overflowed with
joy and laughter, an everyday celebration of life with those they loved. Together they raised
their four cherished daughters: Marybeth Bosko (Gregory Herzog), Shelley Bosko, Kristie Mertz
(Christoph) and Juliann Young (JD). She was their guiding light, their greatest supporter, their
trusted confidante, and their true friend. Janice’s nine precious grandchildren and one great-
grandchild adored her and describe her as a doting, playful and loving “Grammy”. Her
numerous nieces and nephews loved her dearly. Janice treasured her large and beautiful family
and the time spent with them. Her genuine smile and warm hugs will be greatly missed.
Janice was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Elmer and Gertrude Herold (Osche), and was raised
alongside her loving siblings: Diane Ricketts (Tom), Elneau Brannigan (Ray), Cheryl Herold, and
Michael Herold (Michelle and the late Joyce). She had a deep and unique bond with each of
them. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Cheryl and her husband’s
parents William and Elizabeth Bosko (Suhoza).
Janice attended St. John’s General Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA and practiced as
an RN for 26 years, with most of her career being spent in the Emergency Department. Janice
and Bill moved to Northern Kentucky in 1988 and Janice launched her own business “Custom
Designed Painted Walls”. She embraced her creative talents and delighted her clients with her
work. In addition to her family and work, Janice absolutely adored her nine basset hounds,
many of whom she rescued, and she could regularly be found rubbing their bellies and
scratching their long ears. Janice’s hobbies and interests are too numerous to count. She was a
talented sewer, quilter, crafter, bird-watcher, gardener and even a disco dancer. She had a fun
loving, wise and empathetic nature that formed the basis for meaningful friendships.
Janice was a woman of great faith. A devout, lifelong Catholic, she not only practiced her faith,
but lived it. Janice put her trust in God’s love, mercy and divine providence. Together with her
husband, she taught her daughters and grandchildren to do the same. She was a brilliant
reflection of God’s light and she shared it with everyone she encountered, with warmth,
patience and kindness.
