James Michael “Mike” Woltenberg, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Health Care in Edgewood. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family.
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Navy. In civilian life, he retired after a career in customer service with Procter & Gamble through Convergys.
The greatest joy in his life was his family. He shared 59 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Yolanda Woltenberg (nee Nocero), building a home filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. He treasured every opportunity to gather with family and friends, and his infectious smile, quick wit, and welcoming spirit made everyone feel at home.
He embraced life with enthusiasm and never passed up a chance to enjoy his many hobbies and interests. He loved cars and drag racing, spending time on the golf course, bowling, pitching horseshoes, and fishing whenever he could. Mike was also a lifelong member of the American Turners Society. He enjoyed challenging himself with puzzles, keeping up with the latest technology, and even video gaming. Whether it was a spirited card game, a backyard fireworks display, or relaxing with a margarita or cold beer in the company of friends and loved ones, he found happiness in life's simple pleasures and in creating memories with those around him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Yolanda Woltenberg (nee Nocero); his loving daughter, Michelle (Gary); his three sons, Doug (Lisa), Jeff (Lisa), and Chris (Leslie). He was a proud grandfather to five grandsons and four granddaughters and welcomed one granddaughter-in-law into the family with love. His grandchildren were a tremendous source of pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He is also survived by his brother, Richard “Dick”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Marie, and his brother, Howard “Jack”.
Those who knew Mike will remember his sense of humor, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his unmistakable smile that could brighten any room. His love for his family, his service to his country, and his appreciation for the people and moments that mattered most leave a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that the stories, laughter, traditions, and love he shared will live on for generations to come.
There will be a mass of Christian burial held at St. John’s Church on Pike St in Covington at 9:30 am on Thursday, July 2, 2026. There will be NO VISITATION. There will be a celebration of life following (1:00pm – 6:00pm) at South Hills Civic Club, 10 Bluegrass Ave, Fort Wright, KY 41011.
