Jacqueline Susan Peterson

Jacqueline Susan Peterson, of Union KY, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Boonespring nursing home surrounded by family. Jackie was 80 years old, born January 7, 1946 to the late Rita and Athel Raley. In 1965 she married her high school sweetheart, Jim Bailey. She and Jim were happily married for 20 years before he passed away from cancer. They had two daughters, Sandy and Michelle. Jackie was lucky enough to find love again and married Jerry Peterson in 1990. They lived a mostly quiet life, though they did enjoy square dancing and going on motorcycle rides on occasion. She loved her sisters Mary Ann and Jeannine. They loved grabbing a bite to eat and playing cards. She made every holiday and family get together memorable.

Her Catholic faith was very important to her. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1964, and attended church regularly her whole life. For 25 years she worked at McAlpin's and made many lifelong friends while working there.

Jackie had four grandchildren, and her house was the hangout spot for a long time, especially during the summer. She previously had a beautiful secluded yard, log cabin, and pool surrounded by a beautiful garden. Most of her summers were full of splashing kids, wet feet inside, and chip crumbs to clean up after.

She was one of the kindest people you could ever be blessed to know. Even in the years she fought dementia, she was overwhelmingly kind and smiley.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents Anna Rita and John Athel Raley, husband James (Jim) Bailey, and husband Gerald (Jerry) Peterson. She is survived by her daughters Sandra (Mark) Wood and Michelle (David) Lee; grandchildren Brittney Bailey, Drake Walter, Devin Walter, and Dylan Goodridge; great-granddaughter Bre Williams; sisters Mary Ann Denny and Jeannine (Donn) Robinson; nieces Gina (Steve) Mitchell and Christy Buck; nephew Brian Robinson.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 30th 2-4pm at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pk. Ft. Wright, KY, 41017. Catholic Burial Mass will be Monday, August 31st beginning at 11am at St. Paul church, 7301 Dixie Hwy, Florence, KY 41042 followed by burial at Mother of God Cemetery, 3125 Madison Ave, Fort Wright, KY 41015.
