Howard J. Stratman, age 93, of Covington, KY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 08, 2025. He was the long time owner/operator of Overwein Upholstery, a member of the Dutchmen’s Rod and Gun Club for over 65 years, and long time member of St. John’s parish. Howard bravely served our country as a member of the United States Marines during the Korean War. He loved to work and continued to do so well into his eighties. He spent his leisure time fishing with his late wife at their Kentucky Lake vacation home.
He is survived by his children, Terry Stratman (Jennifer) and Debbie Burns (Lyle); grandchildren, Stephanie Thompson (Seth), Stacey Cordes (Jeff), Michael Stratman, and Michelle O’Neil; great-grandchildren, Nolan and Natalie Thompson, Carter Stratman, and Charlotte O’Neil. Howard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan Stratman (nee Anneken); sister, Esther Ginn; and parents, Joseph and Helen Stratman.
Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church (627 W. Pike Street, Covington, KY) on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 12:00 noon. Interment will immediately follow at Mother of God Cemetery (Covington, KY) with full Military Honors. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
