On June 12, 2026, Henry Christopher Germann of Indianapolis, Indiana, beloved husband of Mary Jo (Foster) Germann passed away unexpectedly at their home.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Emma Germann, and his sisters, Betty Svec and Mary Wehrman. Hank is survived by his best friend and wife of fifty-three years, Mary Jo, and his three children, Amy Dineen (Brian), Sara Germann-Scott (Andrew) and Nicholas Germann; his grandchildren, Caitlin Dineen, Shannon Dineen, and Adrienne Dineen, Quinn Germann and Van Germann. Hank is survived by 5 siblings, Jean Hengelbrok (Edwin), Arlene Riedel (Ron), William Germann (Marilyn), Sharon Serey (Owen) and Jeff Germann (Michelle): as well as his four sisters-in-law, Terri Modic (Chris), Margaret Turk (Bill), Kathleen Foster (Paul Wollard) and Michelle Foster (Alex Fibbe); and his many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Hank was a dedicated Kentuckian, He was born in Maysville, Ky and graduated from St. Joseph Preparatory High School in Bardstown, Kentucky. He went on to graduate from Xavier University, Cincinnati Ohio, then continued to the University of Kentucky where he completed his Juris Doctor. He had a long career with the Kentucky Department of Transportation as an attorney and Right of Way Supervisor, retiring after 37 years of service. In addition to his work for the state of Kentucky, Hank shared his time and talents with many organizations including: Parish Council at St. Pius Church in Edgewood, Kentucky, Board Member and President of the Board at Covington Catholic High School, a coach for multiple youth baseball teams for many years, and was always ready to lend a hand to numerous volunteer organizations.
An avid reader, Hank read the Wall Street Journal every morning, with keen interest in the editorial page. He had a particular interest in American history and, with his wife, enjoyed making several trips to Williamsburg, Virginia. An avid golfer, Hank enjoyed a well-played round and particularly when playing with his children; Nick, Amy and Brian, and brother, Bill. Hank and his mother Emma were dedicated Cincinnati Reds fans, enjoying the games together. He also relished following Xavier Basketball, and the University of Kentucky, for which he shared those passions with his daughter, Sara. Hank enjoyed travel, and Jekyll Island, Georgia, which held a special place in his heart, loving the golf course, the beach and time spent with family there. There was never a doubt about Hank's convictions in life: his family, his faith, care and concern for less fortunate.
A celebration of Hank's life will take place with a Funeral Mass on June 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St Pius X Church in Edgewood, Kentucky with a visitation at the church, beginning at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: the Ambrose and Emma Germann Scholarship Fund at Thomas More University, Crestview Hills, Kentucky; Covington Catholic High School, Notre Dame Academy (Park Hills Kentucky); The Micheal J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research; or the charity of your choice.
