Gerald "Jerry" P. Middendorf

With his entire family by his side, Gerald “Jerry” P. Middendorf, age 82, of Edgewood, KY passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 20, 2021. Jerry was many things to many people. He was a scholar, earning an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Dayton and a Masters of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati; he was an innovator, designing electrical hardware for the U.S. Military and NASA during his 37 year career with Cincinnati Electronics; he was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Pius X Church; he was a devoted husband, showering his wife, whom he lovingly called 'My Angel,' with love and affection; he was a caring and dedicated father, passing on his ability to design, build, and fix anything and everything to his sons; he was a gracious father-in-law, gifting his daughter-in-laws with loving husbands of strong moral character who were molded by his example; and he was a proud grandfather, creating priceless memories that his grandchildren will hold dear to their hearts forever.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Mary E. Middendorf (nee Flannery); sons, Joe Middendorf (Wendy), Michael Middendorf (Celia), Daniel Middendorf (Beckie), David Middendorf (Angie), and John Middendorf (Tammy); grandchildren, Austin, Jacob, Dana, Joshua, Madison, Jennifer, Mark, Justin, Ava, Matthew, Lucy, Olivia, Anna, and Barrett Middendorf; sisters, Donna McMurrer and Paula Wood (Tom).  He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Middendorf; son, William Paul Middendorf; siblings, Ralph Middendorf, Fr. Cyril Middendorf, Robert Middendorf, Dorothy Byrne, Jean Doellman, and Sister Julaine Middendorf, SND.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at St. Pius X Parish in Edgewood from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will immediately follow at St. John Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Care of St. Elizabeth (483 S Loop Rd, Edgewood, KY 41017) and/or The Passionist Nuns (1151 Donaldson Highway Erlanger, KY 41018).
