Eugene Thomas Burns

Eugene “Gene “Thomas Burns, age 95, of Fort Mitchell, KY passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, December 23,2025. Gene was born to Thomas and Margaret Klatte Burns on November 1, 1930 in Covington,Kentucky. He is survived by his dear wife of 72 years, Glenda Burns (nee Barrick);beloved children, Kevin Burns (Patty), Tracy Dorsel (Curt), Patrick Burns (Peggy),Timothy Burns (Jenny), TJ Burns (Mary Ann), Kierin Toebbe (Donald), Kelly Burns (Melissa) and Brady Burns (Cindy); 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Burns and siblings, Gerald Burns, Joan Rao and Margie Wesselman.

Gene’s love of God, family and country defined his life. He was a proud graduate of Covington Catholic High School and Villa Madonna College and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed at Cincinnati Bell for 38 years before retiring in 1988.

Gene was an avid golfer, loved boating and fishing, and in later years enjoyed Friday afternoon pub visits with his children and adult grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday January 2, 2026 at Blessed Sacrament Church from 8:45 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 10:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
