Earl Edward Schuh

August 18, 1933 — November 17, 2023

Park Hills

Earl Edward Schuh, age 90, of Park Hills, KY, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2023, surrounded by his family. Earl was born to Arthur and Coletta Schuh on August 18, 1933 in Dayton, KY. A devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, Earl was also well known in the community for his busy dental practice and his involvement in civic life throughout Northern Kentucky. He will always be remembered for his outgoing personality, booming laugh and a generosity of heart towards anyone who needed a helping hand. Earl loved spending time with family and friends, the Cincinnati Reds, music, tennis, golf, travel, writing, and the study of genealogy. He was an officer in the Navy, a founding member of the Christian Service Commission at St. Agnes parish, president of the Northern Kentucky Dental Society, a board member at Covington Catholic High School and Notre Dame Academy, and an active and recognized alumnus of Covington Latin School. In his retirement he spent time attending the activities of his grandchildren and ministering to the unfortunate by reading to the blind, visiting the incarcerated and the shut-in, and caring for family, friends, and colleagues in need. He did so in a way that always affirmed their inherent dignity. Earl attended Covington Latin School, Xavier University and the University of Louisville and graduated with a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree in 1956. While in Louisville, he met his future wife, Mary Ann Roth, whom he married shortly after graduation. They proceeded to have ten children, five boys and five girls, and spent most of their married life in Park Hills, KY, as members of St. Agnes parish, where he was very active. Earl had integrity, a deep faith, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to making his community a better place. He was much loved by his children and grandchildren and he was a friend to all. Earl is survived by his ten children: Dave (Toni), Beth Dempsey (Mike), Tom (Maria), Peggy Hayes (Michael), Dan, Mike, Susan Leonardi (Rich), Maureen Eckert (John), Tim (Kim), and Theresa Finlay (Kevin). He was the devoted grandfather to forty-four grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and a dear brother to Dick (Blanche) Schuh, and brother-in-law to Dan (Sally) Roth, Mark (Beth) Roth, John (Barb) Roth, Therese (Teecy) Bower-Hibdon and Jane Roth. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Earl is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Mary Ann, his sisters Mildred Held and Rosemary Beiting, his brother Arthur Schuh, his brothers-in-law Joe and Jim Roth, Lester Held, Bill Arnzen, and Ed Beiting, and his sister-in-law Mary Schuh. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 9:00 AM-11:30 AM at St. Agnes Church, 1680 Dixie Highway, Park Hills, KY 41011, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial and internment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ft.
