Dorothy Pugliano, age 89, passed away in Erlanger, Kentucky on Jun 10th, 2025 with her family at her side. She was born in London, England to William and Alice Day. While in London, Dorothy met Frank Pugliano who was serving in the US Air Force. Dorothy fell in love, converted to the Catholic faith, and married Frank. They lived near various Air Force bases in the United States while eventually settling in West Carrollton, Ohio where they raised their family. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, and one of her favorite traditions was helping Frank cook the Feast of the Seven Fishes dinner every Christmas Eve for her children and grandchildren. Dorothy would add some of her British favorites to the Italian meal including her delicious Scotch eggs.
Dorothy worked for decades as a manager in the catalog department at Sears Roebuck where she met dear friends that remained close to her beyond retirement. Dorothy had many interests but especially loved knitting, crocheting and creating beautiful quilts that her children and grandchildren will cherish forever. She also had many quilting friends and enjoyed traveling with them to quilting shows and retreats across the Midwest.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, her brother Peter Day and her son-in-law Randy Weeks. She is survived by her daughter Jane, her son Dave (Nancy) and her sister-in-law Margaret. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jessica Russell (Jake), Jon Perron (Sheri), Tony Pugliano (Kathleen), Angela Kraft (Zach), Amy Pugliano and 4 great grandchildren.
Dorothy took great delight in donating her hand-made blankets to hospitalized children, so memorial suggestions are to any charity that serves children. The family will be holding a private funeral service.
