Colleen Due Albers 1926-2023

Colleen was born in Covington, KY on March 4, 1926 to Albert and Hattie Due, the youngest of their four children. As a young girl, she attended St. Xavier Commercial School in Cincinnati, Ohio on a two year scholarship. After graduation, she worked at the old courthouse in Covington and was a clerk and court reporter  for several judges there at the young age of 16. She married Richard Albers on May 14, 1949 and raised four children with him. She was a homemaker until 1962 when she went back to work as a legal secretary and office manager for a law firm in the Carew Tower in Cincinnati. She was a member of the Mother of God Choral Club. She was a Kentucky Colonel, and her interest in history, both local and worldwide, led her to become a member of the Christopher Gist Historical Society, serving as their secretary and treasurer for many years. For over 35 years, she volunteered for CABVI and Radio Reading Services and took great joy in helping the blind community of Cincinnati be able to enjoy their paper. She was proud of her Irish heritage and her family legacy of being barbers. She was the family historian and was frequently called and consulted when any family history questions came up. She loved music, particularly classical music, opera, and show tunes, and sang in the May Festival chorus. She was known all around Covington and Latonia for her sharp sense of style and her love of hats.

Colleen was preceded in death by her husband Richard "Doc" Albers and son Richard "Rick" Albers. She is survived by daughter Colleen(Alan) Richter, son Stephen(Kim) Albers, son Dr. Brian Albers, Lynn Albers; grandchildren Meghan Richter(Andy Begley), Dr. Caitlin Richter, Molly Albers, Daniel Albers, great grandchild Julian Richter, and her beloved dog Max.  Donations can be made to CABVI, SPCA, and St. Elizabeth Hospice.  Services are private.  Online condolences may be made at, www.middendorf-funeralhome.com.
