Carol Duncan Sovereign

February 2, 1942 — October 5, 2022

Carol Ann Duncan-Broering-Sovereign  February 2, 1942 – October 5, 2022.  A resident of Crestview Hills, was a conscientious mother, a faithful wife and exceptional scholar. Her classmates in high school described her as sensitive, a perfectionist and ‘date-bait.’ Carol did attract quite a bit of male attention. In fact, she was nominated for Miss Kentucky.  A member of the National Honor Society, Carol graduated from Beechwood High School in Fort Mitchell as Class Valedictorian. She enjoyed Chorus, French Club and being a cheerleader. Carol went on to receive her BS in Biology at Transylvania University in Lexington. In addition to her scholarship, she enjoyed a variety of extracurricular activities and was in Delta Delta Delta sorority. The University of North Carolina awarded her an assistantship and she earned her Master of Science degree. One of Carol’s goals since elementary school was to teach. She enjoyed her time as a biology instructor at Thomas More University in Crestview Hills.  Carol married Dennis Broering and they produced a wonderful daughter, Karen. After they divorced, Carol spent some time exploring new directions, learning and growing while raising their daughter. She met Charlie Sovereign, married and settled down in Crestview Hills. Carol enjoyed buying and selling antiques and spending time with her family.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Duncan nee Mescher and, father, Col. Ralph J. Duncan. husband Dennis Broering, and husband Charlie Sovereign. She is survived by her brother, Jack Duncan, daughter Karen Ready nee Broering (Matt), granddaughter Jordan Ready and grandson Casey Ready. The family asks that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), rather than flowers.   Carol's advice:  Boogie on!  My three rules, 1. Have Fun 2. Help others if you can 3. If you can't, remember rule #1.  Visitation will be Wednesday, October 12th from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm at Middendorf Funeral Home. 3312 Madsison Pk.  Ft.
