Carol Sue Butcher

Carol Sue Butcher (nee Ebert), age 80, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 6th, 2026. She was born in Dayton, KY on December 23rd, 1945 to the late Catherine and Walter Ebert. Carol worked as a manager at Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken in Latonia, KY and then later in life worked at the Remke’s market in Taylor Mill, KY. She graduated from Newport High School in 1963. Carol enjoyed spending time playing games on her smartphone and watching UK basketball. She also liked to try new restaurants with her son James and spending time with him gambling and having fun at the Belterra and Hollywood casinos. Carol is survived by her son James Rhett Butcher; her sister-in-law Shirlee Reeves of Louisville, KY and her niece Debby Seifer. She was preceded in death by her husband James Carl Butcher and her sisters Edith Bickers and Shirley Seifer. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12th from 4-5pm at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike, Ft. Wright, KY 41017. The funeral service will start following the visitation at 5pm at Middendorf Funeral Home. The family has suggested that memorial donations be sent to St. Jude children’s hospital.
