Beverly Casey was always happiest when she was giving. The quickest way to see her brighten up and show her beautiful smile was when she came up with an idea to do something for someone else. A thoughtful card for a friend. A surprise gift basket for one of her children. A shipment of a meal to a colleague in need. As the daughter of an Air Force officer, Beverly spent the first part of her 81 years traveling the country and the globe. Born in Massachusetts in 1941, she went to four different high schools in California. She lived in Japan and went to a Girl Scout camp in the shadow of Mount Fuji. She lived in Germany and rode a VW bug through the Alps. Beverly moved to New York in the 1960's and lived in Manhattan for more than 20 years, many of them working for the chairman of the Pfizer company. She met James Casey at a party and was annoyed at the way he made an argument. Of course they got married. Though they moved to Kentucky with their two children in the 1980's, Beverly always remained a New Yorker. Beverly was a tireless worker, possessed a brilliant mind and an innate sense of justice. This made her perfectly suited to her role managing Human Resources for Towne Properties. She fought for people and for what was right. She loved the beach. She adored her children, Gregory and Vanessa. And she loved Jim, even when he drove her crazy. To know Bev was to know what she thought, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. It was part of the way she loved. She couldn't help but want the best for other people.
Beverly is survived by her brother, Brian St. John; son, Gregory and his wife Liz and her daughter Vanessa. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; and her parents, Pat and Ruth.
