Anne Louise Stanfield

July 9, 1924 – May 5, 2026

Anne Louise Stanfield, born on July 9, 1924, to Francis and Marie Cushing (née Pauly), lived a long and eventful life shaped by resilience and independence.

Anne was raised in Latonia, Kentucky, where she attended La Salette Academy on a four-year scholarship, an early reflection of her determination and strong character. Throughout her life, she called several places home, including Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky; Formosa (now known as Taiwan); and Costa Mesa, California, before eventually returning to Ft. Mitchell.

In her younger years, Anne volunteered at the Parish Kitchen. She also enjoyed spending time with the Rug Crafters and she was an avid reader.

She is survived by her children: Carolyn Hoffman, Jim Stanfield and Susan Thompson, as well as her daughter-in-law Pam Stanfield. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Michelle McNeal, Justin Stanfield and Cara Holmgren, along with six great-grandchildren.
Anne was preceded in death by her first husband, William Donaldson, who was killed in Tarawa in 1943, and her second husband, Arthur Stanfield, a member of the U.S. Navy UDT. She was also preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Wayne Hoffman and David Thompson.

Anne lived life on her own terms. As a centenarian, she witnessed a world transformed by time, change, and extraordinary technological progress. As a lifelong learner, she believed in the importance of knowledge, discovery, and continued advancement for future generations, and she donated her body to science at the University of Cincinnati in order to help support that purpose.

She will be remembered in different ways by those who knew her, and her story is one that will not be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Anne Stanfield may be made to Cincinnati Cancer Advisors Cincinnati Care Advisors or  Bluegrass Care Navigators of Northern Kentucky.
