John R. Maher

MAHER (MARR)

John Richard Maher, 85, of Union, passed away on May 31, 2017.  Born in Brooklyn, NY he was the twelfth of thirteen children.  He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (’53), a U.S. Navy Veteran, and a retired marketing executive.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn Brink Maher; his 3 daughters: Molly Morris (Steven) of Charlotte, NC, Mary Hawley of Los Angeles, CA, and Kathleen Healy of Redondo Beach, CA; and his 7 grandchildren:  Marion Logan and Roland Morris, Ryan, John and Clare Hawley, and Annabelle and Sadie Healy.  He was an active member of the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Covington serving as greeter, lector, Eucharistic minister, and with St. Vincent de Paul Society.  His favorite pastime included oil painting, walking and travelling.  Visitation at Cathedral of Basilica of the Assumption (1101 Madison Avenue, Covington, KY 41011) on Saturday,  June 17th from 9:30am-11:00am, with a mass at 11:00am.   Burial will be private.  Middendorf Funeral Home (3312 Madison Pike Ft. Wright, KY 41017) is handling arrangements.  Memorials suggested to St. Elizabeth’s Hospice (483 S Loop Rd, Edgewood, KY 41017) and/or St. Vincent de Paul Society of the Cathedral (1101 Madison Avenue, Covington, KY 41011).
