Paulina Mary Strauss

Paulina Mary Strauss of Fort Mitchell, Ky passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital Edgewood on September 3, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 28, 1925 to Paul and Nell Mae Glenn. She attended Villa Madonna Boarding school in Villa Hills, Ky, and fell in love with the Catholic faith. After graduation, she attended Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Cincinnati. Paulina worked as an obstetric/gynecological Registered Nurse at Good Sam for nine years and loved every minute.  She married Edmund Strauss MD in 1956, and together they had four children, two of whom passed away at birth. For over thirty years, she volunteered tirelessly at St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester OH with dedication and creativity.  She located a beautiful altar, out-of-state, and transported it to the church where it became the main altar.  She cooked gourmet meals for the priests whom she loved and admired… cherishing them as very precious friends. She loved to paint!—The Blessed Mother being one of her most favorite subjects. And even at the age of 91, with an indomitable spirit and adorable sense of humor, she was  zestfully engaged in life and learning. Paulina is survived by her husband Edmund, her son Edmund C. Strauss, her daughter Marianne Schutzman, son-in-law Jerry,  as well as her six grandchildren: Stephen and his wife April, Joseph, Thomas, Maria, Daniel, and Katie and great-grandson Liam. The void that her death has left in our lives is indescribably profound. Our hearts are broken.  She will be loved forever! Middendorf Funeral Home in Fort Wright are serving the family. The Rosary will be said at 11:00am Thursday at St. Gertrude the Great Church in West Chester Township, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:25 am. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Ft.
