Joan Wild Maier, 88, of Fort Wright, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Carmel Manor in Fort Thomas. Joan Wild was born to Arthur and Bertha Wild on April 24, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan. She attended Catholic schools all her life and was a graduate of St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, with a degree in mathematics.
Joan married Richard F. Maier in 1951 and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage. They raised a family of 8 children. Joan was always active in church and community. Along with Agnes Farrell, she started the bereavement committee at St. Agnes Parish. Joan enjoyed golf, bowling, bridge, and gardening. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Wild, and her infant child, Mary Beth.
Joan is survived by her husband, Richard, sons Mike Maier (Rae), Bob Maier (Melinda), and Chris Maier (Natalie), daughters Ann Maier, Pink Bates (Rob), Julie Daily (Joe), and Katie Nauglebaugh (Dennis), 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephew.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Agnes Church, 1680 Dixie Highway, Fort Wright, KY 41011 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30AM. Internment will immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Agnes Parish, 1680 Dixie Highway, Fort Wright, KY 41011 or Carmel Manor, 100 Carmel Manor Drive, Fort Thomas, KY 41075.
