William Sommerkamp

William Edward Sommerkamp, 91, entered peacefully into eternal life surrounded by the love of his family, on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. He was the devoted husband of 65 years to the late Frances (nee Nierman). Cherished father to Jeanne Frost (Glenn), David (Dee), Tom (Sandy), Jim (Kim), Mary Kay Woodruff (John), and proud grandfather to 13, and great-grandfather to 9. He was preceded in death by brother, Paul, and survived by sister, Esther Averdick, and brother, Frank, Jr. He was a U.S. Army veteran, graduate of Xavier University, and enjoyed retirement life from Cincinnati Bell for over 32 years. It was filled with the enjoyments of golf, travel, city council, working outdoors, volunteering, and spending time with friends and family. Bill was a true gentleman, an example to all, and will be forever missed by his community and loved ones. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00PM on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at St. Agnes Church, 1680 Dixie Highway, Ft. Wright, KY. 41011. Visitation will also be at the church on Tuesday from 5:00PM until the time of service. Burial will be at 10:00AM on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Mother Of God Cemetery.
