Herman B. Kamlage, born March, 28, 1930, son of post World War I German immigrants Henry and Marie Vormbrocke Kamlage, was called home on December 1, 2018 at the age of 88. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Covington on June 1, 1957. His priestly ministry included 13 years as Pastor of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Carlisle, Nicholas County), and there after Pastor of St. William Church (Lancaster, Garrard County) and Our Lady of Mt. Vernon (Rockcastle County). Father Herman returned to Northern Kentucky where he served in various parishes and ministries, such as Christ Renews His Parish. In retirement, after a Sabbatical with the Paraclete Fathers in New Mexico, he gave spiritual encouragement to HIV + patients through AIDS Volunteers of Northern Kentucky, and reached out to low income families through the “rent-to-own” Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky (HONK). He is survived by many cousins both local and in Germany. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Heights Chapel 1601 Dixie Highway, Park Hills, KY 41011 on December 15, 2018 at 11:00 am. Herman has bequeathed his body to the University of Cincinnati Medical School. Arrangements are being handled by Middendorf Funeral Home, Fort Wright.
